Are you the bottleneck of your business?
Being the bottleneck of your business is a hard place to be.
It feels great to be in demand and making money. But so much of your business requires your face-to-face time that it's hard to keep up, it's almost impossible to scale, growth, in general, is hard because you can't take time away from your business without the whole thing coming to a holt, and you feel the edges of burnout creeping in.
10 years ago, my husband and I had built a successful health and fitness business, but both of us quickly became the bottleneck.
We didn’t like taking time off because face:face services were our only income, we couldn't make more money without either working more or switching our roles to become more like people managers.
This experience was an outstanding catalyst for change because I knew for certain that while I was proud of what we had built, what I really wanted was a business model that allowed more flexibility, more scalability, the ability to do work that I love from anywhere in the world, AND be very active and present parents.
That’s not too much to ask.
It's not easy, and it didn't happen overnight, but it is not too much to ask.
